Sunday Trivia - Who Invented That?

Did you ever wake up in the middle of the night and ask yourself -- who invented kitty litter? Or what about when you’re watching a movie and the actor tosses a stick of dynamite at the bad guys -- ever thought wow who invented that?

Well I bet now that I’ve planted the idea you will ~smiles~.  You can thank me later.

Sunday Trivia - Idiom's

Do you know what an Idiom is?

I was sure my answer to that question was a resounding - Yep! Then, I read the definition - an expression whose meanings cannot be inferred from the meanings of the words that make it up.

Huh, what?

Okay to me an Idiom is a saying that makes little sense, has been used for generations, and no one knows it's origin.

So I thought it would be fun to see if you all can finish these Idiom’s. If I give you the beginning, can you supply the ending?

Have fun!!

Inception

What is there to say about Inception?

How about - that is 2 hours and 28 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. And, trust me I want it back.

After watching Leonardo DiCaprio in Shutter Island, I had high hopes this dream state, subconscious thrill ride would have twists and turns that kept me guessing.

No such luck!

The premise of the film is Dom Cobb (Leonardo) and his band of trusted accomplices are going to pull off the impossible: plant an idea. If only someone had had an idea. Any idea of how to make this movie so it had a cohesive story line instead of action scenes intermixed with talking, intermixed with some very low tech, unexplained dream inducing machine, and back to action scene.

It’s funny, after sitting in the theater for two hours and twenty-eight minutes; it took me less then five minutes to forget the names of every character in the movie. The only reason I know Leo’s characters name is because it was on the theaters movie listing. I remember there were five or maybe three hundred other men and I think two or three women in the movie, but really only a few of them lived so I didn’t bother to count.

In fairness I will say there were a couple of chuckle moments, however having admitted that I have to be honest and tell you I don’t think they were intended to be funny. The rating for this movie is PG-13 and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone under 13. Not because it’s bloody or full of swearing - truth be told, I can’t remember much of the dialogue, but I’m pretty sure swearing was minimal. The reason little ones should stay at home is because there is nothing in this movie they will understand. Heck, I didn’t understand it and I’m a pretty smart cookie most of the time. Oh, and Connie and KK agree with me (yes about the movie and about me being a smart cookie, LOL).

So all in all, Inception needed a little more in the way of explanation mixed in with a whole lot more direction - both in storyline and actual directing. This movie was a fail for me.
